The Rolling Globe

The Rolling Globe will be the place to get global at Prague 2008!

All week the Globe, with its stage, café and lounge will host concerts, cultural shows, stunts, films, debates, campaigns, workshops, activities and all you can think of to help you get global and make a difference.

Open from 10am in the morning until 11.30 at night, a packed programme planned by young people from all over Europe awaits you.

Meet young people from all over the world, get stopped at a checkpoint, get arrested, sign petitions, watch cultural shows and movies from all over the globe, laugh, talk sex, sound off at our video diary, learn, chat, question, graffiti, get challenged in our ‘Albatross' room, speed date, attend a workshop on conflict, learn about the reality of being HIV positive as a young person, watch film clips, share your experiences of the police and prison, see photos, smile, get fired up in a debate or simply enjoy a cup of FairTrade coffee...these are just a few of many things to do when you come to the Rolling Globe.

The lounge in the rolling global will feature the Guilt Free Café where you'll be able to get refreshed, relax with others and meet young people from all over the world. There will be young people from Colombia, Togo, Honduras, Palestine, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Kenya, Chile, Peru, Zambia, Mexico, USA, Canada and of course, from all over Europe.

The theme of Prague 2008 is "Real Life has no borders" and the Rolling Globe will be the place to develop a better understanding of your place in the world and the lives of young people across the world. Whilst Prague 2003 was about bringing Europe together, Prague 2008 is about Europe looking out and taking its place in the world as a whole.

The Rolling Globe aims to help you get a fuller understanding of this theme and to reflect on your place in the world, explore the links between your lives and those of other young people around the world, and to think about what you can do personally to make a difference. You'll be exposed to global issues, and the realities of young people's lives worldwide, to demonstrate that ‘real life has no borders' and that we all share dreams, hopes and problems

There will also be loads of resources and training for people who work with young people in Global Youth Work and information on how to bring international issues into your work in your YMCA.

Get an insight of what REAL LIFE in the Rolling Globe can look like in the video!

At Prague 2008, the Rolling Globe will rock your world!
